JOB DESCRIPTION - COACH
Responsibilities
1. Main Scope
1.1 The Coach shall direct, control and be responsible for selection of players, planning and implementing effective training programmes and co-ordination of programmes of activities and commitments of the Club's Singapore Premier League Team and such Teams as may be from time to time designated by the Club.
1.2 All selection of players will be at the discretion of the Coach but the Team Manager and Assistant Coach shall be consulted and briefed on the selection or non-selection of any player.
1.3 The selection of Singapore players based elsewhere outside Singapore and/or foreign players may be considered but all negotiations or approaches to or decisions on such players shall be at the discretion of the Club's Committee who may delegate the same to the Team Manager or any other person from the Club as the Committee may appoint. Requests for inclusion of such players must be submitted to the Club's Committee through the Chairman of the Committee or such other person as the Committee may appoint.
1.4 Preference of selection should be given to younger players in Singapore if senior players fail to live up to expectations. This guiding principle does not apply to foreign players who are recruited for specific positions and purpose/s.
1.5 The Coach shall observe as many Singapore Premier League Tournaments and other local matches as possible to assess players and to scout for new talent and report findings at periodic intervals.
1.6 The Coach will be assigned suitable assistants, trainers or medical personnel to assist the Team. Only persons approved by the Club's Committee and given letters of appointment shall take office in the Team.
1.7 The Coach shall draw up plans/schedules for the Club's Singapore Premier League Team and such Teams as may from time to time be designated by the Committee. These shall be submitted to the Chairman of the Club, the General Manager, and the Team Manager.
1.8 The Coach shall assist the Club in the organisation and conduct of coaching clinics or assist as guest lecturer or speak on coaching matters at coaching projects, seminars and clinics and the like.
1.9 The Coach may make press statements on technical aspects of the game or the Team but shall not discuss with any journalist or make any press statements on the Club's policy matters or principles, and plans of the Committee and/or on matters of policies relating to the Singapore Premier League and/or FAS.
1.10 The Coach shall submit a monthly report on activities through the Team Manager to the Chairman of the Committee by the 7th day of the ensuing month.
1.11 All cases of injuries or sickness ought to be referred by the Coach to the Head of Singapore Sport Institute, SportSG. The Committee will not entertain any unauthorised claims in this respect. To this effect, the Coach shall ensure that a book or books be maintained to record all cases of injuries or sickness or absence by Players from training and/or matches, and weaknesses of players in the Team and monitor injuries/sickness and/or recommend remedial training.
1.12 The Coach shall not be involved in any other work or business other than the above or as directed by the Club.
1.13 The Coach shall work only with officials appointed by the Club for each of the Teams.
1.14 The Coach shall comply with all directives of the Singapore Premier League as directed to the Clubs, and comply to all Rules and Regulations of the Singapore Premier League and/or FAS.
1.15 The Coach shall not be accused or be convicted of any serious or heinous crime in Singapore.
1.16 The Coach shall not be involved in any bankruptcy proceedings or stand as surety in any matter.
1.17 The Coach shall avoid putting himself in a situation that could disparage the image of his Club or any one of the affiliated Clubs in the professional league (the Singapore Premier League) and/or the affiliated clubs of FAS and/or that of his fellow professionals, be they Player, Coach or Official.
1.18 The Coach is expected to conduct himself in a professional manner, both on and off the field. He will refrain from any behaviour or language that is threatening, abusive, obscene or provocative.
2. Singapore Premier League Team
2.1 The Coach shall concentrate on the preparation of the Club's Singapore Premier League Team and its level of efficiency to play in the Singapore Premier League Tournament or Tournaments and such other competitions which may be decided by the Club from time to time.
2.2 The Coach shall plan and strategise the performance of the Club's Singapore Premier League Team with the target achievement of winning the Singapore Premier League Tournament or Tournaments.
2.3 The Coach shall produce and submit periodic plans and training schedules for the Club's Singapore Premier League Team to the Committee.
2.4 The Coach shall select the Assistant Coach and Trainer in consultation with the appointed Club official or officials.
2.5 The Coach shall produce and execute training programmes to enhance the fitness and skills of the Singapore Premier League Team.
2.6 The Coach shall conduct continuous assessment of players of the Singapore Premier League Team and in consultation with the appointed Club official develop courses of action to take based on the results of the assessments.
2.7 The Coach shall instil, maintain and enforce a high standard of discipline and decorum in all members of the Singapore Premier League Team, on and off the field; he shall recommend appropriate disciplinary action for serious breaches of discipline.
2.8 The Coach shall counsel and motivate players to give their best for the Club.
2.9 The Coach shall not induce or in any way attempt to induce any player in the Club to leave the Club for any reason whatsoever.
