Assistant Manager – FCL Trade Management – Freight Forwarding - APAC
Due to our growth expansion plans, DP World is seeking for a Assistant FCL Manager for Trade Management across APAC. In this role, the Assistant FCL Manager will be responsible for negotiation of competitive rates and surcharges with carriers, including port-to-port rates and named accounts. This involves managing and responding to tenders and contracts for local, regional, and global customers. The position provides leadership in product and business development to ensure carrier adherence to targets, while also building and maintaining strong relationships with ocean freight carriers.
Additionally, the role offers guidance and support to countries to enhance operational efficiency and alignment with regional objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Customers Engagement – New and Existing
- Oversee pricing strategies and respond to tenders and RFQs for both regional and global clients.
- Act as a point of contact for customers, offering insights on products and market trends.
Regional Procurement
- Negotiate and secure competitive FAK (Freight All Kinds) rates
- Coordinate with carriers to establish rates tailored to specific country requests for named accounts
- Address country-specific needs by negotiating terms such as space allocation, demurrage, and detention free time with targeted carriers
Support for Country OFR Operations
- Lead initiatives in product and business development to ensure carrier compliance with targets
- Share regular market updates with countries, including changes in surcharges and market conditions
- Assist countries with rate negotiations and carrier-related challenges
- Maintain daily communication with overseas offices to address operational issues
- Provide guidance and training to countries to enhance regional trade awareness
Operational Oversight
- Track weekly and monthly performance reports, including lifting data and carrier adherence to targets.
- Monitor key accounts’ performance, rates, and resolve any space or equipment-related issues
- Enhance assigned trade lanes through research, innovative strategies, and long-term planning
- Ensure timely communication of carrier activities and market developments to management
Collaboration with Global Carriers in Asia Pacific
- Build and sustain relationships with global ocean freight carriers
- Address and resolve operational challenges, such as space or equipment shortages
- Negotiate favorable rates for FAK, named accounts, surcharges, and procurement incentives
- Stay updated on carriers’ latest rate implementations
- Set volume targets with carriers and monitor performance
- Secure space protection agreements with key carriers
- Conduct quarterly business reviews (QBRs) with target carriers
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
- Bachelor Degree/Diploma or equivalent
- At least 3 years of relevant Logistics/Supply Chain experience with good knowledge of Ocean Freight
- Possess in-depth knowledge of carriers’ functions
- Acquired knowledge of General shipping matters e.g. Operations, Customer Service, documentation, claims, clearance etc
- Well-versed in Software knowledge in MS Office
- Good negotiation and communication skills
- Ability to analyze problems effectively and find the best solutions

Hours: 9am to 6pm, Mon to Fri
Responsibilities:
Tender Management:
- Identify and evaluate tender opportunities
- Lead, strategize and coordinate the entire tender management process in collaboration with the tender owner, product and country/branch
- Review tender details - requirements, opportunities & risk
- Establish input methodology, pricing strategy, stakeholders (internal & external) and milestones
- Initiate and chair tender kick off and review calls with internal and external stakeholders
- Consolidate and review data input to ensure the Company's competitive edge
- Coordinate final review and approval before external submission
- Support the implementation of a successful tender
- Establish and ensure a consistent execution of the post tender process (i.e. monitor the success rate, competitor pricing, de-brief with clients, track the next tender cycle, etc)
- Establish effective and efficient procedures to monitor, validate and control data quality across the tender management process
- Represent the region in the development and implementation of global tools, company guidelines and standards, safeguarding local regulations and guidelines
Stakeholder Management:
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal & external stakeholders
- Provide periodic, consistent and constructive feedback
- Maintain a fair and inclusive work environment, fostering partnership and solidarity within the team
